Remember our efforts a while back, making toys for the Cambodian Kids? Well, Donna Cooper has just given me some photos... here are the shots...

Well done everyone... we've made a difference!

And while we are on the subject of Cambodian Kids, Donna has also asked me to distribute this and round up any of you who are interested in going to...

Kaz, Rhonda, Annie and I have put our hands up already!! We'd love to see you there! I'm leaving hubby at home (as are some of the other TTer's) so don't feel left out if you can come on your own!!!

Donna C. has also indicated that our quilt will be auctioned, rather than raffled... mmmm, it did look REALLY nice on my couch....!

Now really girls, this has got to stop....

First there was Mia in the grand old "Woodend Star"....

So Donna had to top that and get her mug in "The Leader"...

Then Rhonda had to go all out and have her family and house feature in the the Domain section of 'The Age"...

Well, we thought it would all end there! But alas! NO!

Annie has got her mug in 3, yes THREE local papers this week!!!

and my favourite.... 'sink the sausage'.... are they tonsils I see in a close up????

NB: For those of us who have not had our mugs in the paper... here's a few suggestions...

What a great night! It all started out quite calmly....

then of course, things digressed...

I must take this opportunity to mention how wonderful we all looked...

and I apologise as I forgot to report at the AGM that our first case of cloning has been successful!

The kids were fantastic... I had visions about 45 minutes in that it was a big ask, but they settled into the task at hand magnificently...

I am so enthused about stencilling that I photoshopped a great pic of Mic to put on a bag or tee for her (and probably me...)

Donna attended a felting workshop on the weekend up on the Mount, and made herself this fantastic bag. She has promised to give us all a workshop soon, and has a great idea for making felted dolls for the next kids sewing night.

Kid's Sewing Night...

Have had interest for another Kid's sewing night.... and was thinking (shudder shudder to those who get scared when i say that!) maybe we could get the older kids to stencil a picture on a t-shirt and the younger ones to use textile crayons to draw a design on a tee....

Check these tutorials out to see what I mean...

Angry Chicken's Little Elf Shirt, a simple but effective stencil;
Some absolutely amazing stencils here, excellent example of stencilling on fabric, then appliqueing that to a tee;
Wise Craft's lovely cuckoo stencil;
Another easy tutorial to follow;

There are heaps more on web... i just googled "kid's stencil freezer paper" these were the first hits...

Also found a cache of stencils at stencilry... and spray paint stencils check 'em out! Sure there are heaps more... Or just get the kids to draw their own - the more simple the better!

Here's one us gals could put on our t-shirts!

Mia's Memorable Bircher Muesli

The total amount of dried fruit should equal 1.5kg

Chop all dried fruit......

I use:

dates

apples

sultanas

apricots

prunes

figs

almonds

200g sunflower seeds

200g linseeds

Mix with 1kg oats.

Store in air-tight container.

Soak musuli in lagre bowl (1 cup per person) with equal amount of liquid over night. You can soak in water (what I did) apple juice or orange juice. Serve with freshly grated apple & yoghurt (if you are feeling indulgent use the King Island Honey Yoghurt).

Enjoy & think of me when eating!!

Well done everyone!! Last Friday was a great success... we raised over $1,000 to go towards our community work.

A great big thank-you to our wonderful caterers, Lynne and Aaron for supplying the champagne, all the generous people creating or donating goods for raffle and door prizes, to the wonderful women in our community for coming along and enjoying a mug of soup, to the wonderful women who did not get the opportunity to come, but still supported us... and of course Rhonda. for being such a splendid hostess.

Having my tiara on most of the afternoon, I didn't get the opportunity to take photos... next time I'll delegate that role!

A few of us have been talking about our first fundraiser for Talking Threads/Community Threads... we were thinking...

Friday 31st August (last day of Winter! Yay!!)
12 noon til 3pm
Soup, breadroll, cake and a glass of wine
?$25? per head

Raffles, door prize/giveaways...

How you can help...

Cook a pot of soup
Bake a cake
Order/Collect bread
Obtain wine (paid or donation if poss)
Source raffle items
Bring along soup bowls and bread plates
Get raffle tickets/Make signs for goods
Certificate of Appreciation - create/print/send or deliver...

Would love to make this a success.... Will try and finalise details this Thursday at Donna's

Thought it was time the PARKer dolls made it on to or blog. Photo is of Prue Parker and Paddy Parker. Receiving lots of lovely compliments fromWCP - that is Woodend Children's Park committee members. All the Parker childlren are now for sale at the Westpac Bank in Woodend, for what I have now been told several times - very cheaply priced.

What a wonderful evening...

Congratulations to Charli, Michaela, Hannah, Nellie, Miette, Tom, Zoe, Mahli, Alice, Kalum, Tali, Louis, Jack, Kai and Paddy... you all did a wonderful job - we are very proud of you excellent art work.

here is my first posting!

My vote to Shaz's question about food on the weekend - is YES to pot luck.

I've been thinking that we should set ourselves a deadline to have the toys made for cambodia. Maybe, say end of July, we hand over what we have. If we all aim to at least a couple of each, that would be fantastic. Anyone, elses thoughts???
